Chromebook lending: Home

A guide to the Chromebook lending program at the Curtis Library.

About the library's chromebooks

The library now has four chromebooks available. All Chromebooks come with

  • Chrome OS
  • Google apps (Chrome, Docs, etc.)
  • Touch screen
  • Case (with 24-hour loan period)
  • Power cord (with 24-hour loan period)

Tips for use:

  • Sign in as a guest or with a pre-existing Google account.
  • Save your documents to a cloud-based service (or provide your own USB drive or MicroSD card)
  • You can't download new apps. But if there is a specific app you'd like to use, please let us know. We may be able to download it for you.
  • All information will be deleted when you sign out of the Chromebook.

Loan periods:

  • Short term: Up to eight hours, for use in the library only.
    • No checkout necessary! Simply read and sign the user agreement to the right, grab and go! Please return the item to the cart and plug it back in when you're finished.
  • Long term: 24 hours. Read and sign the user agreement and then check out at the circulation desk. Chromebooks may be renewed up to three times in person only. Devices checked out on Friday will be due the following Monday.
  • FINES: $10/hour, up to $80/day for up to three days. Please speak to a librarian before letting fines accrue!
  • REPLACEMENT COST: $250
